“Stumblin’ In” achieved notable success on the charts. In the United States, it reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1979. This was Suzi Quatro’s only top 40 hit in the U.S., and for Chris Norman, it was his sole solo charting effort outside his work with Smokie. In the UK, the song peaked at number 41 and was Norman’s only solo chart hit there as well. In Canada, the song performed exceptionally well, hitting number 11 on the RPM Chart and reaching number one on the Adult Contemporary Chart.
The song’s appeal extended beyond its initial release. It was featured in several films and television shows, including the 2011 Australian film *Red Dog*, Paul Thomas Anderson’s 2021 film *Licorice Pizza*, and the Netflix series *Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story* in 2022.
